Alessandro Mendini, architect and designer has been editor of the magazines, Casabella, Modo and Domus. He works with a number of companies as a consultant art director and designer. He creates objects, furniture, spaces. He is a consultant for Swatch International.

He has received a number of awards and tributes, amongst which are the Compasso d’Oro for design and honours from the Architectural League of New York. He is a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. His work is displayed and conserved in museums and private collections.

In 1989 he opened the Atelier Mendini with his brother Francesco. Amongst his major projects are the Alessi house and museum at Crusinallo, Tower at Hiroshima, Museum at Groningen, the theatre at Arezzo and the Arosa Casino in Switzerland.
